Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson World Champions


By Lynn Fitzpatrick January 21, 2010 (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) - Iain Percy and Andrew "Bart" Simpson (GBR) were crowned 2010 Star World Champions today.  The reigning Olympic Gold Medalists continue to add treasures to war chests.  Percy's sterling collection of championship titles includes the 2002 Star World Championship and an Olympic Gold Medal in the Finn in 2000.  Percy and Simpson are in the TeamORIGIN afterguard and began sailing Stars together in 2007.  They were persistent in getting every ounce of boat speed out of their Mader Star and won the Olympic Gold Medal in the most exciting Medal… more »

Sailgroove to Cover Miami OCR Live!


US Sailing's Rolex Miami Olympic Classes Regatta (Miami OCR) is coming to Miami, FL, January 25-30 and Sailgroove will be covering it live! Miami OCR is the US stop on the ISAF World Cup circuit, a regatta series that gathers together the world's Olympic hopefuls. In the US, Miami OCR is a chance for developing sailors to test their skills against the world's best, and to qualify for US Sailing Team AlphaGraphics. I just finished reading a hell of a book, Saving Sailing, by Nicholas D. Hayes (savingsailing.com.)
