And other winter weather trouble in the US

If you are reading this from a location in the US today, you are probably experiencing some out-of-the-ordinary weather. In the midwest, all the way up into northern New England, snow, ice, rain and sleet are wreaking havoc on the roadways and canceling work and school, not to mention putting an early end to iceboating at the DN Worlds.

I am in Austin, TX today at Flocast's headquarters, the hub of Sailgroove's parent company, Flocasts where it is an unseasonable 21 degrees (down from 75 just two days ago.) We are experiencing rolling blackouts today due to power plants in the northern part of the state shutting down after last night's ice storms. Similar stories are coming out of nearby Arizona, New Mexico and California.

So, needless to say, getting online today will be a challenge and new content on the Groove may have to wait until this crazy stuff gets sorted out. Please bear with us.

I am in Santa Barbara, CA and it is delightful. 70 and sunny... just like everyday.

Last Sunday we had to dig the interclubs and whalers out from under about a foot of snow so we could go frostbiting on Boston Harbor. It turned out to be a great day on the water with temps in the mid-30s and breeze from 8-18kts. It looks like we'll be getting some more snow this Saturday, so we'll likely be repeating the same process again this week, except afterwards we'll actually have some football to watch.

Definitely way to cold in Austin, but good news is that it should be 60 degrees by Saturday. However, it is pretty strange that it's warmer in Southern Massachusetts than in central Texas.

Anybody else have anything strange to report?

Yikes. I'm supposed to fly back to Boston on Saturday. Hope they're still running flights into Logan.

*by the way, I found a coffee shop that seems to be immune to the blackouts.... for now...
