The lesson plans focus on marine ecology, but you don’t need to be a bio major to teach them. Leaders in marine and environmental science education fields, organizations such as the New England Aquarium and Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, have designed the kits, and have made them easy to teach. They are fun activities that get children involved whether they are playing Oyster Tag or creating and understanding Ocean currents with the Density Currents lesson. Best of all, the first six lesson plans are free, and available online, just click here.
If you are going to be a sailing instructor this summer, impress your boss by showing up with a plan for those less than optimal sailing days, and if you are the boss – parents will be excited to know that their kids are getting some science lessons on the side!
