Palma, Spain,
The sun left us again today as the rain clouds returned to Palma for day 3 of the Princess Sofia Trophy and third leg of the ISAF World Cup. We woke up to a 10-12kt north-easterly wind which hung around long enough to get us out to our race course, and then died out. The race committee sent us in whilst we waited for more breeze and then when it started to look promising they sent us out again. We went out 2:30pm as the rain started, and then as we got out there, the wind died again. We waited in hopes that it would fill in, but it wasn’t to happen today, and we were sent in for the day at 4pm. So instead of racing today, we will attempt to do three races tomorrow. The forecast is for 15-25kts from the north west, which means it will be off the mountains…very puffy and shifty, but we will have wind and it will be good racing.
The only fleet to get a race in today was the 49er class. Just as at any regatta where the race committee calls off racing for the day, the wind fills in an hour later, it did so here. I heard that one of the 49er fleets had a race to make up, so they had to wait around and do it today before they make the fleet splits tomorrow.
Overall it wasn’t a very exciting day. We got wet, sat in some rain, and waited for wind. But we have our USSTAG team dinner tonight so it will be good to catch up with our fellow teammates down at the other end of the bay. Racing resumes tomorrow and I will have a report to let you know how it went. The results remain the same. I am in second overall and two points behind Paige Railey in first. You can follow the results at: http://www.trofeoprincesasofia.org/noticias.php
I would like to thank Carmeuse for their support in my campaign for the 2012 Olympics in London.
Sail hard,
Anna

go get it.
