Molly Carapiet and Briana Provancha finished Sail For Gold with their best race yet. It was the culmination of six weeks of learning how to sail a 470 as a team. The second half of Skandia Sail For Gold was filled with wind and tough sailing. The third day of the event, the organizers abandoned racing because it was too windy, with winds consistently from 30 to 35+ knots and gusts even higher. On the fourth day, the wind decreased some and the fifth day it continued to die.On the second to last day we had pretty good upwind speed and were passi...
At Sail For Gold, Briana Provancha and Molly Carapiet had a rough first but a great second day. In fact, today has been our best day to date with two top ten finishes. The first day was very unstable wind, varying from 8-12 knots. After the first start, we hit another boat and had to take two penalty turns. The second race we started early in a black flag start. Unfortunately, after the day we were disqualified from the first race for the collision we had. Today we were ready for the big breeze, 20-25 knots. The first race we had a good start an...
Molly Carapiet and Briana Provancha finished up strong at the 470 World Championships with a couple of good races. We were able to continue improving over the course of the event, by focusing on our team work. The last two days we had some difficult racing conditions sprinkled with some rain.On Day Six we struggled with our decision making up the first beats after two good starts. But when we worked together to make better decisions we were able to pass boats. We tried out some different techniques on the upwind legs and we learned a lot about ...
Molly Carapiet and Briana Provancha have slowly been moving up the ranks at the 470 World Championships in Rungsted, Denmark. We completed the qualification series in 29th place, the last spot for the gold fleet. We were quite happy to be in the gold fleet at our first event together and have the opportunity to race against the top women in the world for an additional four days. During the first day in gold fleet the wind was very unstable. The second race we had an awesome start, down by the pin. We tacked and crossed the fleet and then tacked...
Molly Carapiet and Briana Provancha have had two days of racing at the 470 World Championships, showing great potential as a brand new team. We are making some rookie mistakes and are a little rough around the edges but are happy with how we are doing overall. We are currently tied for 26th place out of 57 boats. We have done five races over the past two days in 8-18 knots and a lot of current. It reminds me a lot of San Francisco, except the current never changes directions unless the wind comes from a different direction for a long time. Our b...

Hyeres, France has had difficult sailing conditions over the past two days. Both days a light sea breeze has filled late in the afternoon. However, the sea breeze was very unstable, with 40 degree shifts and huge pressure differences. Everyone's results were very inconsistent over the past two days.We came out of the first difficult day relatively unscathed with a 15th and 7th, moving us up overall to 7th place, just a few points out of 5th. The last day we did not do as well, finishing with two 19th places. Although we had great starts and pre...
Team Molly had a good day today and an up and down day yesterday. Both days the wind has been quite light and we have been waiting for racing for some time.Yesterday, the first race we had a great start and played the first beat well, rounding the top mark in second place. We battled it out with four boats the rest of the race, finishing third overall. After a few hours of waiting, we started a second race. On the last beat the wind died to 1knot and shifted 70 degrees to the right. It was a very long race! When we reached shore we learned we w...
Team Molly had an okay first day at the Semaines Olympique Francaise. The wind was quite unstable and light, shifting between a sea breeze and a storm cloud driven wind. There were 20-40 degree shifts, causing very difficult racing conditions. The first race we got a little out of phase on the first beat, rounding the windward mark in 21st. We had great downwind boat speed, moving up to 16th place overall. The second race we had a great start and played the right side of the course. We rounded the first mark in 2nd place, where we stayed the res...
