September 28, 2011 Annapolis, MD After a slow start to the day, due to lack of wind, we began to head out to the race course around 10am for the start of racing at the 2011 Santa Maria Cup here in Annapolis, MD. It was a slow sail out to the race course, but the wind slowly filled in and was solid by the time racing got underway around 11am. The race committee did a great job of keeping up with the shifting breeze, its increases and decreases, and all the boat rotations to get in 8 flights (each flight consists of 4 races) by 6pm when they cal...

As we sailed out, the wind died, and looked terrible for a couple of hours. Finally around 11:15, it started to fill ...

August 28, 2011 Rochester, NY Team Maclaren arrived in Rochester NY at 1am this morning for the US Sailing's 2011 Rolex International Women's Keelboat Championship (RIWKC). Our Sailing Venue Photo: (c) Team Maclaren 2011   We got on a plane yesterday after racing at the 2011 Buddy Melges Challenge, flew to Atlanta and then up to Rochester. It seems a very-out-of-the-way route, but it was the only way we could get here for today. We woke this morning and headed to Rochester Yacht Club for registration and weigh in. We weighed in first to ma...

Fickle Winds But Fair Results

August 25, 2011 Sheboygan, WI Another long day of racing, and good results at the end for us. We won three of our four races this morning to advance to the quarterfinals as the third seed and are currently up 2-0 over Team Wang from China in the quarterfinals.   Photo: (c) David Bronson, Buddy Melges Challenge 2011   The day started with a nice 10-14kt offshore north westerly breeze which provided flat water with puffy and shifty racing before it slowly shifted to the right and got a little unsteady before settling in from the north ...
