Back to the Basics - For the aspiring racer, or an experienced one who just wants to brush up

In this first episode, clinic instructor Ben Spiller breaks down the most important rules in sailing: port-starboard, windward leeward, clear ahead-clear astern, and their limitations.

Wow, another anonymous pot-shot on Sailgroove. How very unoriginal. If all you have to go on is rumors, do you really have any need or reason for that post?

I've known Ben for five years and I can honestly say that he has developed into a mature, well-rounded and successful sailor. Clearly this video shows just one example of Ben giving back to the sport, and promoting good sportsmanship to younger sailors. I think he shows in some of his statements that he has learned from mistakes in his younger days, and is more conscious of the importance of understanding and following the racing rules of sailing.
Everyone of us has probably had at least one moment on the water when we've become upset, or even angry, that could be construed as "bad sportsmanship". It's a human reaction to a bad situation. That shouldn't form your entire perception of a person.
Perhaps next time you have such a thought, you'll show some tact and maturity and keep them to yourself, or at the very least identify yourself.
