One of the northernmost winter-long frostbite fleets in the country also sails the world's smallest racing dinghy (minimum empty hull weight is 34 lbs).

The fleet is pretty competitive and includes many former college sailors, BC Coaches Greg Wilkinson and Alden Reed (Adam Roberts even came out for a Sunday), and a former US Sailing Team member. Most boats are homebuilt by the guys who race them. A new boat can be built for about $500. I built mine in my garage last year over winter break and race it occasionally between college seasons.
