Warning! This one is cheesy and will most likely get you thrown out, but this latest rules exploit by Val Smith is worth looking at.

In order for any sport to succeed it has to evolve, and guys like Val coming up with new stuff like this do just that. Maybe the move is legit, maybe it's not. Either way its poor form to call it stupid. I think it's pretty slick thinking. |

E6 does not talk about the S boat getting to the inside. If P tacks then S overlaps her to windward like you have it S has room! I am pretty sure. Call E6 is different because boat X never gets to the inside. |

Pretty funny. Since the boat is supposed to leave it on the required SIDE and in this case the mark is to be left to STARBOARD how does the boat, which obviously would be passing it with it's transom being closest to it, fulfill that obligation? |

If P tacks clear ahead inside two then she is entitled to mark room provided that S is not fetching. Check out call E6 for this exact situation. But in the situation where S can fulfill the requirements to be fetching then 18.3 applies and S can take mark room. |

I am not sure about your example. If P tacks inside two then S has room! Am I missing something? |

And the chance of getting an umpire to call it like this is.......0.00000%.
