Today should have been the start of ILYA Champs Part 2, featuring A and MC Scows. Instead we waited on shore for the wind to calm down. See today's interviews and come back tomorrow for racing (we hope!)

What are the wind limits for the se A-boats. Are they sensitive like the America's cup boats and limited to a limited range of wind conditions. Too bad not to see you out there |

Were there storms? I understand the MC's not going out in that, but the A's don't have the wind limits. It looked like a great day for the A's. I was looking forward to seeing the videos from today's racing! |

Even though the hull design for all the scows has been around for 100+ yrs, the rigging and equipment is state-of -the -art. The A's are designed for flat water only as on Inland lakes. No motors or even winches on these machines. Just watch for the trimmer pulling in all that mainsheet at the leeward mark! They are high strung and expensive. At least 6-figs for a new competitive boat. Probably 30-40K for a new carbon mast. Only takes one mistake in big winds for a disaster. Not even the wealthy dairy farmers can risk all that in heavy air.
Hope one of you gets a chance to give Chris a ride with some good wind. It's a hoot he should not miss
