The Sixth Annual 2009 Polar Bear Open was hosted by Bowdoin College on beautiful Cundy's Harbor in Maine! This NESSA regatta is the first of four qualifiers for the Great Oaks Regatta in New Orleans . The following nine high schools sailing teams raced A and B divisions: Atlantic Challenge HS conglomerate team, Me; Cape Elizabeth HS, ME; Cheverus HS, ME; Falmouth HS, ME; George Stevens Academy, ME; North Kingstown HS, RI; Portland HS, ME; Southern Maine HS conglomerate team, ME; Wellesley HS, MA.

Nine teams competed in the Polar Bear Open hosted by Bowdoin College. The breeze started NW at 5-8 knots and shifted between NE and SE until a nice sea breeze arrived at 130. Courses were W3s and W4s with offsets and gates. A big thanks to all the Polar Bears that helped run the event. There were no protests and no breakdowns. RP info to follow.
