Description
Saturday: Great breeze and a long day of sailing sums up the day for Saturday at the Navy Fall Intersectional. Sailors arrived to a Northwesterly 10-15 knot breeze that built as the day progressed to 15-25 knots before backing to around 7 knots for the last set. Three full rotations were sailed in the morning in all divisions before a 45 minute lunch break, after which 8 additional races were sailed in A, B, and C for a total of 14 with zero general recalls. A breakdown prevented race 14 to be sailed in D division. All races were sailed on a trapezoid course in the Severn River just off of the Robert Crown Center making for great spectating. There were several breakdowns and some wild wipe outs. Four protests will be heard tomorrow morning at 9am before sailing.

Sunday: A beautiful Fall day today in Annapolis, MD with temps in the lower 70s and a brisk Westerly breeze at between 4 and 12 knots. The day began with a short delay on land to hear the 4 protests from Saturday, which resulted in 3 DSQs. The racing area was moved from just off of the Robert Crown Center to the Annapolis harbor to provide the necessary room for the trapezoid course. Six races were sailed in A, B, and C divisions, while D sailed 7 races on the day. Shifty conditions made for interesting racing, with considerably less breakdowns. Again, four protests were filed which resulted in 2 DSQs. Congratulations to St. Mary's for winning Navy Fall. Thanks to judges Doc Sullivan and Austin Kana for keeping it clean on the water and to PRO LT Ben Herring and the Naval Academy Midshipmen for running even, fair races. hi newportsailor
Unfortunately, I actually didn't really take any still shots like I have in the past. This was my first time using this camera, and when first saw the photos they looked like they were really poor quality so I just focused on the video.

Another disappointment was that I had A LOT more footage from Saturday which through several incidents either got scratched up or erased. The camera I was using had been sitting in a closet for a few years, so when I just pulled it out and started filming a lot of it came out damaged as you can see from the beginning and end of "Saturday Highlights". Even more footage got erased when I tried to import because my computer couldn't support the amount of footage. Sorry I wasn't able to get more post more stuff in general, and if I were to do it again I would definitely want to include more photos!

Brooke,

We understand you had taken a lot more excellent photos. Any chance of posting them?
