OCU/UCO Turkey Trot Regatta

Host team members from Oklahoma City University and University of Central Oklahoma began showing up around 7AM on Saturday to rig and launch boats. They were greeted by clear skies and 40 degree temps. The Skipper's meeting took place at 9:30AM and then teams headed to the docks to board their assigned boats and head to the course. Racing started a little before 11AM with 12-15 mph winds out of the N/NW. During the 6+ hours of racing, the OCBC Race Committee volunteers remained on station, altering the course as needed. By the end of the day, over 65 sailors participated as members of 8 teams representing 6 schools (Colorado University, Oklahoma City University, University of North Texas, University of Oklahoma, University of Central Oklahoma, and University of Oklahoma) In the end, Colorado took 3rd, Texas 2nd and Oklahoma 1st. The regatta was a huge success! Thanks to Oklahoma City Boat Club (OCBC) for all the help and for providing the location and, of course, the boats. Thanks to the volunteers who served meals and were available for a host of other tasks. A HUGE thanks to the race committee, and lastly, thanks to the teams who participated.
