The fall season has just started up with the first regatta at SMU. We tried a new format of a 2 on 2 team race. This format was a great opportunity for the smaller teams to come out and compete and team race. We were able to get off 21 races on Saturday, completing a complete rotation for the 7 teams. Texas placed 4th with 3 wins and 3 losses, all while sailing everyone that came to the regatta.

We have some new team members that we prepared to get ready for the first team race, going through the basics quickly and efficiently.

We are hoping that the Fall 2009 season will be a great season for us. (we are also hoping for more rain to fill up Lake Travis)

Congratulations to our team for placing 15 at this year's Semifinals in Boston. It was a rough two days with light conditions and current, but the Longhorns had some great races making it an interesting regatta. We were lucky to have the live broadcast from Sailgroove as well as frequently updated scoring from TechScore for everyone at home to keep informed. Congratulations to Brandon, Chase, Ellen, Kelly, and Nataleigh for representing our team so well up north!

The University of Texas Sailing Team is a Nationally-competitive club sport. Our goal is to expand the love and knowledge of competitive sailing throughout the University community and our conference at large. Some team members come in with a vast knowledge base of experience, while some members join the team with little or no experience and with determination and devotion they become highly competitive sailors.
