missing the point

you are missing the point...not a "classy move" by Brown. it was a "NOT classy move" by conn. go figure. |

at seisa women's same sort of sitch (on a smaller level...) with one team not signing a rp form at the end of the regatta..forfeiting a spot for women's nat'ls. the berth was given to (and accepted by) the next team down. No one called that un-sportsmanship like.. sometimes you just have to accept your screw ups..but still a classy move by brown. |

You think Conn would have given up the berth to Brown if roles were reversed? |

Berth is spelled with an e not an i in this situation boys. Brown did not decline the opportunity to bear offspring... |

BS and Craig both bring up some good points. I would agree that an unfortunate precedent might be set by Brown declining their birth. I wouldn't want any other team feeling that they would be showing poor sportsmanship by not doing the same in the future. In the end, however, any team is allowed to decline a Nationals birth if they choose and the fact that there wasn't time before to decline, I would say that the intersectional penalty would be a bit harsh given the timing. Brown acted fairly promptly at declining their berth. |

who doesn't check their RP forms at the end of an event (nevermind the NE champs!)? I'm stunned that no member of the team check it or was responsible for it. I'm also in disbelief that the coach didn't check the form at the end of the regatta? |

BS brings up some interesting points. I would argue that the RP form rule is pretty stupid, but I guess that doesn't mean it shouldn't be observed. If the penalty only dropped them to the 8th place spot, this wouldn't be that big of a deal. |

Conn College should not be praising Brown at all for their 'sportsmanship'. The true sportsmanship play here would have been for Conn to accept that they screwed up. Rules are put in place for a reason and Conn screwed that up. Accepting the penalty would be the sportsmanship way to go. "Keep the spot that WE qualified for"???? Ah you didn't qualify according to the rules, suck it up that you screwed up. So what if someone does this at Semi's and finishes 10th because of it...does that mean that the then 9th place team would have to give up their birth to San Fran because of a standard of so-called sportsmanship? Or as a self-policing sport should we actually honor the rules that we put in place? Why do we have rules I guess? Truly bothersome that Brown gave up that spot, it shouldn't have been Browns decision. Brown got the 8th place spot, if they decided to give it up, then they should be penalized under the rules of college sailing for dropping out of an event within 2 weeks. A.K.A. no intersectionals for a year. This whole situation is BS. |

I think you need a leggy blonde correspondent to make these webisodes better. A woman in some form would do you right. Or some kind of gong, or slapstick - like a slap stick performance of the week "boooiyoiyoiyoinnggg" goes to .... get on it. see you at semis. |

i am looking forward to seeing semis! |

?????? brings up a valid issue. would conn have done the same thing. not that it matters, to this particular scenerio but my experience is that they would have taken the berth and laughed all the way to the rule bank.
