Chicago Yacht Club's Belmont Station hosted the 2009 MISSA Baker Team Race Qualifier. Winds on day one ranged from 8 to 24 knots from the west/northwest. Six teams entered representing schools in Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota.

Additional videos and photos posted 05/07/09.New Trier won the MISSA Team Race Championship with a strong 21-4 performance. With shifty winds gusting to 23 on Saturday followed by lighter breezes on Sunday, the Trevians displayed their ability to adjust to changing wind and sea conditions. With the win, the Trevians advance to the 2009 ISSA High School Team Racing Championship for the Toby Baker Trophy which will be hosted by Peninsula Youth Sailing, Sequoia Yacht Club, and the Port of Redwood, California. New Trier finished the first day with just one loss. They were beaten by the Lake Forest Scouts in race #40. The Scouts finished up the day just two wins behind the Trevians and with a comfortable lead over the third place Loyola Ramblers.
Despite a late night for Prom, New Trier cruised to the title on Sunday as their two win lead was never challenged. Lake Forest also continued to demonstrate their command of team racing moves while finishing second. They were followed by Loyola, Grosse Pointe North, Minnetonka, and Grosse Pointe South. By placing in the top four, Lake Forest, Loyola, and GPN qualified for the Atlantic Coast Team Race Challenge which will be held in Rochester, NY.
Loyola's Tommy Holmberg was later awarded with the sportsmanship award by the Junior Activities Committee of Chicago Yacht Club.
